High Artist Spotlight: Abigail Leach

Abigail Leach is a South African artist represented in South Africa by Art Eye Gallery. She is a surreal artist working in different media including ink, acrylic and oil.
We recently caught up with Abigail after High Art 2022 to learn more about her most recent inspirations:
Where do you find your creative inspiration?
Wherever I look.
Why do you do what you do?
Because I can't do anything else.
What art/artist do you most identify with?
Sincere art.
What themes do you pursue the most?
Whatever interests me at the time. Normally something to do with the world I live in. For me art can often be an existential thing.
What role does an artist have in society?
Contribute in a way which makes human existence worth saving.
What is your artistic outlook on life?
To try and see accurately and then have the satisfaction of interpreting it.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Question your value system.
Do you listen to music while you are creating? If yes, tell us your favorite song and artist.
Yes. No favourites but this week it's Mark Lanegan.
What's the best thing about being an artist?
You can stay up late.
