High Artist Spotlight: Andrei Savich

Andrei Savich was born on October 26, 1974 in the city of Dzerzhinsk, Minsk Region (Belarus). From 1989 to 1992 he studied at the Republican Specialized School of Music and Fine Arts. From 1992 to 1998 he studied Monumental and Decorative Arts at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. In 1992 Savich began to take part in art exhibitions in Belaru, Minsk, Grodno, Polotsk and abroad. Since 2000 he has been an active member of the Belarusian Union of Artists. Savich has also had the opportunity to lecture at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts from 2004 to 2010.Since 2005 Savich has been working as the  leading artist-designer at Keramin JSC in Belarus, a fellow of the Kulturkontakt Education Center in Austria and a fellow of the Riesa Efau Cultural Center in Germany. He has completed internships in Austria, France, the Netherlands and Sweden, marked with honorary diplomas. The artist works in various fields of fine arts - painting, graphics, sculpture. He has developed his own creative style and is an original representative of contemporary Belarusian art. The artist's works are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in Minsk, Belarus and the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve in Polotsk, Belarus.

Where do you find your creative inspiration?
I find inspiration in life itself.

Why do you do what you do?
Creation is my most urgent spiritual need.

What art/artist do you most identify with?
Antoni Tapies, Francis Bacon, Horst Janssen...

What themes do you pursue the most?
I am interested in finding myself in constructive abstract painting, illustration, small sculptural forms.

What role does an artist have in society?
An artist is a thinking and doubting person - society needs such people.

What is your artistic outlook on life?
The search for beauty in everything and the improvement of your aesthetic taste.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Find as much time as possible for creativity.

Do you listen to music while you are creating? If yes, tell us your favorite song and artist.
Now I listen to the most diverse music, but I grew up on the work of Metallica.
Constructive musical compositions, laconic guitar riffs, stylish change of pace - all this had a positive effect on me as an artist.

This is an opportunity to be yourself and realize your ideas.
