High Artist Spotlight: Camille Magalit

Camille Magalit is a Philippine-based artist who works mainly with traditional oil paints and digital art. She is currently in college taking a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Arts and is focusing her skill in digital illustration and design. Previously, Camille’s style of work has been mainly realistic portraits, however she is now working on a more stylistic art style that is heavily inspired by fantastical and horror elements.
We recently caught up with Camille after High Art 2023 to learn more about her most recent inspirations:

Where do you find your creative inspiration?

I find inspiration in everything! There is art everywhere if you look closely.

Why do you do what you do?

Self-expression. I find joy in bringing and sharing happiness through my creations.

What art/artist do you most identify with?

Whimsical Art.

What themes do you pursue the most?

Currently, I do a lot of female character designs, but I'd love to explore different themes in the future.

What role does an artist have in society?

Art is embedded in our very souls. Our culture and history are depicted through art.

What is your artistic outlook on life?

Everyone has their own thing and their own path. Focus on what you want to do and keep going!

What advice would you give to your younger self?

"You do you." Don't feel like an impostor; everyone is an artist in their own way.

What's the best thing about being an artist?

Being into graphic design and other artistic mediums is an outlet for creativity and self-expression.
