High Artist Spotlight: Cherch Gallang

Cherch Gallang focuses on creating vibrant maximalism art that takes his audience on a journey through the meticulous details and symbolisms of each artwork. Cherch is still new in the art field, and he started his art journey just this year, in 2023. He is based in the Philippines and mainly creates digital art.
Cherch now aims to grow his art career and exposure, and you can expect a lot more from him this year and the following years to come. He wants to be able to show the world the vibrance and beauty of life showcased in his art.
We recently caught up with Cherch after High Art 2023 to learn more about his most recent inspirations:

Where do you find your creative inspiration?

I find creative inspiration through my daily life, dreams, and the internet. I also find it through studying different cultures and styles from around the world.

Why do you do what you do?

Art has saved me from a lot of negativities. It's therapeutic for me, and it gives me the chance to be myself and share my ideas to the world.

What art/artist do you most identify with?

I mostly resonate with Deb JJ Lee. We have a lot of similarities when it comes to style and ideas.

What themes do you pursue the most?

The themes I pursue the most are maximalism, pop culture, nostalgia, and identity.

What role does an artist have in society?

An artist has the incredible power to deliver messages, influence emotions, and spark changes in society.

What is your artistic outlook on life?

I see life as one big vibrant work of art - full of colors, textures, and stories.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to nurture the gift of art and never be afraid to try something new. Don't be too hard on yourself.

What's the best thing about being an artist?

The best thing about being an artist is the ability to create, express, and inspire through visual language.

What is your dream project?

As of now, I do not have a dream project. I want to keep creating and see where it takes me.
