High Artist Spotlight: Corrinna Johnson
Corrinna Johnson, an illustrator and surface pattern designer living in BC, Canada is a self-taught artist that has had a passion for drawing and painting since she was a small child. When she is not illustrating for clients, she loves creating mixed media art using a variety of traditional mediums or working on digital illustrations. She is an eager learner and enjoys taking online art classes by artists who inspire her.

Where do you find your creative inspiration?
Life experiences, media, other artists, my passions

Why do you do what you do?
Creating art is healing to my soul and has a positive effect on my mental health. Art allows me a safe space to express my thoughts, feelings, emotions, and dreams. Creating art makes me feel whole and alive. It is my happy place and I hope my art brings joy to others too.

What art/artist do you most identify with?
I'm inspired by many artists. I love mixed media and ink/watercolor the most.

Female portraits, fantasy/spiritual, stoner

What role does an artist have in society?
To inspire and to heal others, to help bridge connection and encourage conversation.

What is your artistic outlook on life?
I think art and creativity can be found in everything, and is very important for the soul, both as an artist and an observer of art.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
To follow my passion and go to art school instead of following the path of what was expected of me from my family. I'd tell myself to go on all the adventures, to follow my heart, and live for today.

Do you listen to music while you are creating? If yes, tell us your favorite song and artist.
Yes!! I listen to everything, but lately I've been listening to Jamestown Revival, Sierra Ferrell, and Doc Robinson.

What's the best thing about being an artist?
That I'm making a living off what I love, can decide to live life on my own terms, making others happy, and the ability to see the beauty in every day, even the not so good ones.

What is your dream project?
To travel to 3rd world countries and teach art to children.
