High Artist Spotlight: CURSE/GIFT
FELIX ROSALES AKA CURSE/GIFT is an old soul inhabited by a young heart. The work of the Batangas City born artist CURSE/GIFT is an exploration of numerous layers of lines, mistakes, nostalgia, psychedelic hallucinations, duality and dream logic. Trying his best to create an outré' of relatable and at the same time personal experiences manifested on both paper, canvas and digital works. Playing with traditional pencil and ink; then vivifies his them with digital colors. His paintings are interpreted through acrylic paints which furthers his artistic expression. He constantly questions his reality and purpose; CURSE/GIFT tries to understand and decipher them through the ambivalence of his creations.

Where do you find your creative inspiration?
dreams, reality, high strangeness, forests, music and other creative artists
Why do you do what you do?
The process of creating pushes me forward to do what I do.

surrealism and high strangeness

dream logic
What role does an artist have in society?
An artist role is to inspire and disrupt society and reality.
What is your artistic outlook on life?
It is what it is.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
draw more, experiment different mediums and also don't throw away your sketchbooks!
Do you listen to music while you are creating? If yes, tell us your favorite song and artist.
That is a hard question, since I listen to a lot of different kinds of music. So I guess it depends on my mood for that day or week. If i want to get hyped and pumped up I listen to metal, grind core or drum n bass, but if I want my mind to be a bit more creative, some instrumental post rock, jazz, hip-hop or electronic music. But most of the time it would be Last Podcast On the Left will be in the background.
What's the best thing about being an artist?
the very flexible hours and when reality gets blurred when creating art =)
