Where do you find your creative inspiration?
I am inspired by the living world. I love spending time outdoors and working with animals, and I find that the environment outside is the most powerful inspiration to me.
Why do you do what you do?
I like to create. I like to watch my paintings come to life as I work on them and I love that I can bring attention to my subjects through my work.
What art/artist do you most identify with?
I always find myself identifying with new artists, so no one artist comes to mind. Whenever I visit a museum, I find myself appreciating all of the different work and relating to specific parts of it.
What themes do you pursue the most?
Currently, my work reflects a lot of themes to do with femininity and relationships.
What role does an artist have in society?
An artist of any kind (visual, written, musical, etc) has the role of interpreting complicated and emotionally-charged events and conveying a statement to the public. An artist has the ability to change people’s minds on important matters by moving them emotionally.
What is your artistic outlook on life?
I like to appreciate the beauty in everything. It is very rare for me that I can’t find fascination and beauty in something out in nature, no matter how conventionally beautiful or boring.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to keep working, and I would reassure her that everything will turn out fine.
Do you listen to music while you are creating? If yes, share the song and artist that you listen to while creating art.
Usually I am more of a watch-a-show-and-work person!
What's the best thing about being an artist?
I love that everyone can appreciate my work. Visual art is something that can be appreciated by anyone who sees it.
What is your dream project?
I have always dreamed of creating a huge mural/painting the size of a wall- or larger!
