High Artist Spotlight: Gio Karlo Birondo

Gio Karlo is a graphic designer by profession, illustrator as a hobby (or when inspiration comes to him.) His works are mostly based on inner feelings and emotions that he presents in a surreal way.

'Defending Love'  is about a girl who broke the law and fell in love with someone she wasn't supposed to be with, thus, they turned her lover into a rose.

We recently asked Gio some questions about his inspirations:

Q: Where do you find your creative inspiration?

A: "Songs, Poems, Feelings I couldn't say"

Q: Why do you do what you do?

A: "Something I can't express what I really feel so I turn it into art."

Q: What art/artist do you most identify with?

A: "Marcela Bolivar"

Q: What role does an artist have in society?

A: "An artist's main goal is to express themselves in their art. They are the ones who'll translate their feelings and emotion into something tangible, and hopefully, society could relate themselves into the artwork."

Q: What is your artistic outlook on life?

A: "I think we should all enjoy life and not get pressured with what we see on social media, besides, it's the journey that we treasure most than the destination."

Q: What advice would you give to your younger self?

A: "To be commissioned by Netflix (whether it be a poster or a fanart). A guy could dream."
