High Artist Spotlight: Jon Swartz

Jon Swartz went to the Creative and Performing Arts high school in Philadelphia, and went on to graduate from Tyler School of Art with a degree in Graphic Design. After college, he decided graphic design wasn't the best fit for him. He found his love for painting again and has been pursuing his dreams of being a professional artist ever since 2010. Jon works as a full time artist with his brother David, and they go by Swartz Brothers Art. Heavily inspired by the natural world, emotional experiences, and the creative process; Jon Swartz works in mixed media to create surreal worlds, where the only limit is his imagination.
We recently caught up with Jon after High Art 2023 to learn more about his most recent inspirations:

Where do you find your creative inspiration?

Life is full of inspiration, and I am just happy to absorb it and let it flow through me in my work.

Why do you do what you do?

To bring more beauty to the world.

What art/artist do you most identify with?

Impressionism, and surrealism.

What themes do you pursue the most?

The life force that flows through everything. I love capturing the essence of existence.

What role does an artist have in society?

To bring beauty to the world, and help people see things in new ways.

What is your artistic outlook on life?

To appreciate everything, and pay more attention to the beauty that surrounds us every day.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Don't get complacent.

Do you listen to music while you are creating? If yes, share the song and artist that you listen to while creating art.

I listen to shuffle, hahaha so many songs. Can't pick just one.

What's the best thing about being an artist?

The gift of being able to keep learning, and seeing the world in endless ways.

What is your dream project?

Album artwork, murals, and a music video maybe.
