High Artist Spotlight: Kwizera Patrick


Kwizera Patrick is a Rwandan-based artist born and raised in Kigali, Rwanda. He graduated in arts from Nyundo School of Arts. He discovered that he could draw when he was in primary school at the age of 10, and later he joined the Nyundo S of Art where he developed his skills. His art depicts beauty and culture utilizing digital arts, traditional paintings, and drawings.
We recently caught up with Kwizera after High Art 2022 to learn more about his most recent inspirations:

Where do you find your creative inspiration?
Beauty and culture.

Contemporary art

What themes do you pursue the most?
Cultural or beauty.

What role does an artist have in society?
Artists can help in expressing ideas in society and also create an aesthetic world. Art influences society by changing opinions, instilling values, and translating experiences across space and time.

What is your artistic outlook on life?
I started doing art when I was about ten years I didn’t know what I was doing till I went to school art, I spent three years of upper secondary high school there and after that time I became a professional artist.
I’ve attended some art exhibitions but right now I can say I didn’t do a solo art exhibition but I’m planning it, art h changed my life mentality and financially and I have more dreams to achieve.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would say to my younger self that doing what you love is so important as i did back in days

Do you listen to music while you are creating? If yes, tell us your favorite song and artist.
I do listen to music while I’m creating art and my favorite is Jazz music , vintage coffee reggae, pop music, and old songs,
One of my favorite artists is -Natty bong-

What's the best thing about being an artist?
Is that you live in world of creating ,
You can express your words through art no need of speaking
And also you live as free minded people
And also art can connect you with people

What is your dream project?
My dream project is to do an international art exhibition
I want to show world my ideas
