We recently caught up with Mado after High Art 2023 to learn more about his most recent inspirations:

Where do you find your creative inspiration?
My creative inspiration is found primarily through people and nature.

Why do you do what you do?
In this ever-expanding world, for me, art is a means of survival.

What art/artist do you most identify with?
Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Willie Nelson, Delacroix

What themes do you pursue the most?
Mystery and Connection

What role does an artist have in society?
Artists' roles range depending on the health of the society, but ultimately we ought to be the agents of healing.

What is your artistic outlook on life?
We are all creatives, without it we aren't fully realizing our purpose here.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Maybe to not overthink sharing your art so much, the younger artists can be the purest.

Do you listen to music while you are creating? If yes, share the song and artist that you listen to while creating art.
Sade - Cherish the Day, Mac DeMarco - Chamber of Reflection, D'Angelo - Untitled (How Does It Feel?)

What's the best thing about being an artist?
The ability to self soothe, to take trauma and contrast and turn it into something beautiful.

What is your dream project?
Being an artist with hundreds of pieces and a recording musician with many original songs, I can't wait for the day that I can put on a comprehensive, interdisciplinary interactive show, with dozens of rooms all showcasing the decades of work I have been inspired to make, with specific installations, lighting, and experiences to envelope the surreal ethereal feeling that I have been chasing for years. While I have a lot of original paintings, I am so excited to release more pieces like "In the Air" and integrate them more into the rest of my body of work.
