High Artist Spotlight: Mark Angelo Argarin

An Award-winning Artist, Painter, Photographer, Creative Director, and International Freelancer, Mark Angelo Argarin invites people into his art journey. He fell in love with art from birth when he started learning to draw and sketch.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the East and worked as a Graphic Artist and Creative Director for various Companies and Advertising Agencies like Mc Can Erickson & J. Walter Thompson, SM Investments, and Upwork, serving international clients for 20+ years. He stopped art/painting for ten years due to corporate work and finally had the time and courage to start his art/painting career in 2022, then joined the GSIS Art 2022, where he got the 2nd Prize for the Representational and Finalist for the Non-representational at the same time on the first try.
We recently caught up with Mark after High Art 2023 to learn more about his most recent inspirations:

Where do you find your creative inspiration?

To my son who was diagnosed with cancer just this year.

Why do you do what you do?

I worked as a Graphic Artist and Creative Director. But now, I'm an independent artist and photographer.

What art/artist do you most identify with?

Contemporary, Hyper-realism, Abstract, Modern, and Traditional.

What themes do you pursue the most?

Everyday life, identity, and change.

What role does an artist have in society?

Through creativity and passion, an artist can inspire change and make people feel certain emotions.

What is your artistic outlook on life?

Life is art. Art is my life. Art helps culture evolve.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I would tell my younger self not to be afraid of failure.

Do you listen to music while you are creating? If yes, share the song and artist that you listen to while creating art.

No, I prefer a quiet workplace.

What's the best thing about being an artist?

I can inspire change, make people feel certain emotions, and share my perspective with others.

What is your dream project?
