High Artist Spotlight: Natka01
Natasza Zurek lives in a Canadian forest, by a river, near a lake. On the web she is known as natka01. Natka is a nickname given by her mother when she was very little, whereas 01 is the digital avatar of necessity in our age, as well as the dark and light of the visual language and medium. While we’re at it, it may also represent natka’s recent sojourn from the gooey paint space into the pixelated and vectorized digital. As an artist by occupation, she is 100% committed to the work, but also to the values at the root of the work, embodied as they are in family, as evidenced by the constant flitting in and out of her work space by two bright little lights of her and her partners doing. In the spirit of play natka creates dimensions of possibility where colourful dreams and visions can be shared to learn about the world, and explore the limitlessness of human potential. In natka’s mind artists are playing a vital role in the revisioning of culture and civilization itself. It may seem grandiose, but how could it be any other way? We are sense making, shift shaping, voluntarily or otherwise, and so it is only natural that we aspire in the work, to be honest certainly, but further, towards the highest human ideals of beauty, goodness and truth.
