High Artist Spotlight: QWARK

Qwark  is a Philippines-based multidisciplinary artist who expresses his fondness of detail, assemblage and diagrams in his work. A cannabis enthusiast, Qwark utilizes the inherent effects of the wonder plant in producing vibrant, maximalist works with cyberpunk themes despite the challenges achromatopsia poses in his discernment of color. Apart from being a digital painter, his craft can also be seen on the walls in his hometown streets as a street artist.

We recently asked QWARK some questions about his inspirations:

-

Q: Where do you find your creative inspiration?

A: "Video and tabletop games. Music. Cannabis. "

-

Q: Why do you do what you do?

A: "Apart from putting bread on the table, it also serves as therapy and a light to ward off the much darker things in the world."

-

Q: What art/artist do you most identify with?

A: "I’m not really sure. It’s a conglomeration of alot of things really. "

-

Q: What role does an artist have in society?

A: "They are a different kind of voice or frequency; they connect to those who don’t normally tune in like the rest do. Artists are sources of inspiration."

-

Q: What is your artistic outlook on life?

A: "I believe in the Grand Creator. Thus, I will do best to copy His example; that I be responsible with the art I make and always find ways to put love in everything I do."

-

Q: What is your dream project?

A: "I wish not only to make more art, but more artists especially where I’m from. There is a growing movement in our locality when it comes to street art and there are great opportunities to conquer grey walls and transform the place into some sort of art capital - I intend to set that movement into a proper, positive course."
