Rachel Caudell High State Of Mind
We recently caught up with Rachel after High Art 2022 to learn more about her most recent inspirations:
-
Where do you find your creative inspiration?
Nature 🌿✨
-
Why do you do what you do?
My art is an appreciation and contemplation of the world around me.
-
What art/artist do you most identify with?
Impressionism and art nouveau. Alphonse Mucha is *chef’s kiss*
-
What themes do you pursue the most?
A sense of tranquility and whimsy.
-
What role does an artist have in society?
Art has the power to influence the emotions of others. Throughout history it has shown this power to influence society as whole, so much so that some have deemed to destroy it to prevent the spreading of its messages. I don’t think there is one singular role, but a plethora. For myself, I simply want to bring others peace and emotion through my art. It is a way to connect to others through the heart.
-
What is your artistic outlook on life?
I try to live in the moment. My art usually captures a snippet in time; an observation of the world as I see it. Making art brings me to the present where the stressors of the future do not matter. It helps me to be more grateful for the little things.
-
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Keep trying. Don’t give up. Listen to your heart a little more rather than what others think you should be doing.
-
Do you listen to music while you are creating? If yes, tell us your favorite song and artist.
My taste in music is drastically changing all the time, but my current favorite is fever dream by mxmtoon.
-
What's the best thing about being an artist?
I think having the ability to create gives me a special outlook on life. It allows me to live slow and appreciate life rather than rushing and letting it pass me by.
-
What is your dream project?
Developing an art business and having my own studio is my dream. I want to be able to share my art while having it sustain me as my full time job.
